SAGINAW, MICH. (2011) – The American Society of interior Designers awarded First Place in the Institutional Category to Fountaindale Public Library at the 2011 Design Excellence Awards. Working with the design team, Morley’s Exhibits & Displays team provided engineering, fabrication and installation services for this project.
This specialty fabrications project enhances the Youth Services and Young Adult departments within a brand-new library built in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
The children’s library features its own interior landscape of learning designed by Architecture is Fun especially for children. This was accomplished through a series of Dragon Trees, which Morley built. These Dragon Trees have soaring canopies that present areas of interaction where literature and exploration meet.
This literature-rich landscape, inspired by a storybook by Jane Langton, features a variety of spaces to learn, play, study and read. Each tree with in this literary forest offers opportunities for interaction and play as well as a comfortable place to curl up with a book. The area incorporates specialty fabric; flat screen displays; custom art and photography; reflective, heat-sensitive and textured materials; a storytelling area; and interactive areas from game boards and chalkboard globes to a Wendy House hideaway. The exhibits create a forest of imagination and adventure for children to read and explore within.
